🎓Early Academic Pursuits 

Yilfashewa Seyoum Mekuria was born on May 7, 1966, in Ethiopia. His educational journey began at Addis Ababa University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Pedagogical Science from 1982 to 1986. His quest for advanced knowledge led him to Kurkshetra University, India, where he obtained a Master of Education in 1997 and a Master of Philosophy in Education in 1998. His commitment to distance education is evident from his Master of Arts in Distance Education, acquired from IGNOU, India, in 2005. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum Design and Development at Addis Ababa University in 2012.

💼Professional Endeavors

Dr. Mekuria has accumulated 35 years of professional experience in the field of education. He began his career as a mathematics and pedagogy instructor in various Teachers’ Training Institutes across Ethiopia from 1990 to 2001. His role as a Lecturer in Education and Psychology, Department Head, and Coordinator of the Adult and Distance Education Resource Center (ADRC) at Haramaya University started in April 2001. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor of Education and Curriculum Studies and the Director for Academic Programs at Haramaya University. In this capacity, he oversees curricula, staff development, academic planning, and educational data management.

Dr. Mekuria’s research focuses on professional development, distance education, adult and lifelong learning, and curriculum design and development. He has significantly contributed to the field with over 30 peer-reviewed articles, a book chapter, and two books published by Lambert Academic Publishing. His notable projects include the Co-Producing Knowledge on Sustainable Growth through Service-Learning Pedagogy (COPAFEU) and the Mevlana Exchange Programme, aimed at enhancing educational exchanges between institutions.
