Her academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Bio-Chemistry from the University of Madras in 1995, where she graduated with distinction. She continued her studies at the same university for her Master’s degree in Bio-Chemistry in 1997, followed by an M.Phil. in Bio-Chemistry from Annamalai University in 2004. Dr. Usharani further pursued her passion for science and humanities with a Ph.D. from Anna University, which she completed in January 2019.

Dr. Usharani’s professional career spans several prestigious institutions. She began her career as a Tutor in Bio-Chemistry at the Communicable Disease Hospital, Corporation of Chennai, before transitioning to a Lecturer and Head of the Department of Bio-Chemistry at Tamil Nadu College of Arts & Science.
