Dr. Ahmed Motawea Shaikhon is a distinguished Egyptian archaeologist and heritage management specialist with over 15 years of experience in excavation leadership, site conservation, and UNESCO World Heritage site management. Currently serving as Senior Archaeologist and Heritage Manager at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MoTA), Egypt, he has directed several major heritage projects, including the rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of sites in Historic Cairo and the management planning for Abu Mena and Wadi Al-Natrun World Heritage Sites. His academic contributions as a lecturer at Helwan University reflect his dedication to bridging practical heritage management with academic frameworks, mentoring graduate students in cultural heritage policy and sustainable preservation. Dr. Shaikhon earned his Ph.D. in Heritage and Museum Studies from Helwan University, with prior degrees from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University and Fayum University. His research focuses on heritage governance, digital documentation, ethical frameworks for artificial intelligence in heritage management, and cultural policy. A prolific author, his works have appeared in international journals including STAR: Science & Technology of Archaeological Research and Journal of Conservation and Management of Archaeological Sites. He has represented Egypt in global heritage forums and collaborated with institutions like UNESCO, Smithsonian Institution, and the Netherlands-Flemish Institute. Recipient of the 2024 Scientific Excellence Award for Young Arabs from the General Union of Arab Archaeologists, Dr. Shaikhon continues to shape the future of heritage preservation through innovative research, education, and sustainable management strategies.
