In April 2009, he began his doctoral research at the Center for Cardiovascular Research, Charité Campus Mitte. His thesis focused on comparing the renal effects of DPP-4 inhibitor linagliptin with angiotensin receptor blocker telmisartan in a rat model of chronic kidney disease. His research included extensive morphological analyses and protein expression studies.

From October 2012 to April 2016, Tsuprykov continued his doctoral research at the German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIFE) in Potsdam.
