Professor Lin Xu's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Medicine degree from Sun Yat-sen University, China, completed in 2005. His passion for epidemiology took him to the University of Hong Kong, where he earned a Master of Public Health with distinction and first prize in 2008. He continued to excel, obtaining a Master of Philosophy in Epidemiology in 2010 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology in 2012.

From 2005 to 2007, he served as a medical practitioner (resident doctor) at the Guangzhou Number 12 People’s Hospital. He then transitioned to academia, holding positions at the University of Hong Kong as a Postdoctoral Fellow from 2012 to 2015 and as a Research Assistant Professor from 2015 to 2016. Since 2016, he has been a Professor at Sun Yat-sen University and a Teaching Supervisor since 2022.
